Search Console: find the pages losing clicks
Traffic down but rankings fine? Search Console can show exactly which pages are still seen and no longer chosen. This is the routine.
What is inside
- The comparison view, set up so it answers one question: which pages lost clicks while keeping impressions.
- The three causes, and the one column that tells them apart.
- The query check that shows what people now type when they find, and skip, your page.
- A monthly routine that takes fifteen minutes.
Who it is for
- Marketing managers who see "organic traffic down" in a report and nothing else.
- Content teams deciding which page to update next.
- Agencies who need to explain a drop before a client asks.
The distinction that matters
A page can lose clicks for three different reasons, and they need three different fixes. It can still be shown but no longer chosen: impressions hold, click-through falls, and the fix is the title and description. It can be shown less: impressions fall with position, and the fix is the content or the links to it. Or the searches themselves have changed: the query mix under the page is different, and the fix is a new page or an updated one. Search Console tells you which, if you ask it in the right order.
